BUDGET & FISCAL OFFICER

Job Type:              Full-Time, Exempt, Non-Civil Service
Salary:                  $80,000-$90,000 annually commensurate with experience
Division/Agency:   Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA)
Location:              Honolulu, Hawai‘i   
Note:                    Relocation costs will not be paid   

Essential Functions:
Performs duties and responsibilities appropriate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

- Providing support and project management for the HTA Vice President of Finance.
- Overseeing the daily accounting transaction processing, including cash receipts, disbursements and contracts.
- Preparing monthly and annual closing entries.
- Reporting transactions to the State of Hawai‘i’s accounting division.
- Reconciling various reports of accounting activity.
- Preparing and summarizing monthly financial statements.
- Reviewing travel expenditure documentation.
- Coordinating preparation of annual audits.
- Maintaining compliance with policies and procedures of the State of Hawai‘i and HTA.
- Supporting the organization’s internal control structure.
- Other duties as assigned

Ability to:
- Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization using clearly organized thoughts, proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar.
- Effectively communicate instructions and information both verbally and in writing.

Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited educational institution.
- Minimum of four years progressively responsible experience of related experience are highly desirable.

TOURISM BRAND MANAGER

Note:                   Relocation costs will not be paid

Essential Functions:
- Performs duties and responsibilities appropriate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

- Providing support and project management for the HTA VP of Marketing and Product Development; overseeing assigned markets; planning and organizing tourism-related market research; and preparing current and long-range plans on matters concerning the development of targeted market areas for tourism in the State of Hawai‘i.

- The Tourism Brand Manager must provide efficient and effective project management; actively monitor the effectiveness of the marketing initiatives that are initiated by the HTA’s marketing partners who represent Hawai‘i; and analyze the HTA marketing partners’ strategies, with an understanding of current market trends as they relate to all industry stakeholders, including hotels, airlines, attractions, the retail industry, wholesalers, tour operators, and the visitor bureau Island Chapters; and participate in trade shows, familiarization tours, and industry stakeholders’ meetings.

- Actively participate in HTA board meetings and other industry-related meetings pertaining to the assigned market and in support of overall marketing efforts of the HTA; assist in research work, compilation of data, and preparation of necessary reports or paperwork; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Ability to:
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organization and effective communication, including public speaking, are essential.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization using clearly organized thoughts, proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar.

 Education and Experience:
- This position requires a combination of education from an accredited educational institution and/or experience equal to a minimum of five (5) years in tourism, hospitality sales, marketing, or public relations. An emphasis will be placed on those who have worked in travel industry management, event production and promotion of tourism, communications, management, advertising, or marketing experience.
- Must have experience working with various Hawaiian and other cultural organizations
